Intelligent buildings (PRESEED)

Requested budget: 56.381.000 CZK

University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings (UCEEB) is an autonomous part of CTU with a strong focus on research with significant application potential. Thus optimal capitalization of outcomes depends not only on scientific excellence but also on targeted commercialization support. Especially today, when public budgets are being cut down, and with regard to planned financial self-sufficiency of centres financed from OP VaVpI, the importance of technology transfer is being re-considered. The main goal of the project is to enlarge the existing structure for technology transfer at CTU and establish a separate unit, which will function at UCEEB and will establish stable and effective support for scientists and consistent development of innovation potential. The secondary goal is to confirm role of this infrastructure through 8 pilot projects of research commercialization with multifaceted focus on development of a new generation of intelligent buildings. With regard to wide spectrum of fields, we consider necessary to establish an environment for qualified selection of the suitable means of commercialization. Thus we do not focus on one specific approach, we will educate specialist working at UCEEB in various methods of commercialization and IP protection. The key component of this structure is the Technology transfer manager, who will be responsible for building and leading a team for commercialization support. The functioning organic structure supporting commercialization with an open connection to Inovacentrum CTU will be the main outcome of the project. The project will serve to UCEEB, which is currently located in Kladno. UCEEB is strongly connected with four existing CTU faculties (Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Biomedical Engineering). However, it is an autonomous part of CTU and hence the system of project administration will be clearly separated from other CTU parts.
